When is it time to restart your computer?

When is it time to restart your computer?

My computer is from 2015, and it is doing pretty well for its age. But sometimes it slows down. Its not very noticeable at first, and I usually choose to ignore it. But, background processes accumulate, and eventually, if nothing is done, it becomes barely usable. The computer is trying to maintain many processes that it really doesn't need to do. What should I do in that situation?

Well one option, I could study up on the deep structure of the operating system. There are thousands of bits of data floating around on my computer, in thousands of places, and some of them are clogging the system. If I could just track them all down, one at a time, shut them off, and put them back in their right places, my computer would work fine again. Right?

OR--I could restart the computer. In a couple of minutes of restart time, it will be back to its old self. Which strategy would you reccommend?

In this electronic age we start developing "digital clutter" in our world, at a young age. Its in our minds, and in our spirits. Eventually, some of the negative effects of this becomes visible in our lives. We might ignore it for a while, but if it keeps getting worse, something has to change.

So, we might start with a few obvious measures. "I don't need these notifications, I can turn them off, I haven't used that app much, I can delete it." etc.

Will that tactic work? Maybe, a little bit. But actually, there is research to prove that there is something that works much better: A Digital "Restart."

In a short time, your life could be radically different, not just incrementally different. Would that interest you?

What exactly is a digital "restart?"  It has been done before, by others, and the results are in.

Here's how it is done.  (Link to 30 Day Digital Restart experiment of 2017)
